We had three changes in our chapter officers this year. John Forister finished his terms as president and Bhrent Waddel stepped up from Vice President to President. Bart Dalton has filled the Vice President position. Vicki Pletcher had a situation with her work change so Jerry Vaughn agreed to fill the secretary slot vacated by Vicki.
We welcome the new officers and appreciate their time and efforts to keep our chapter alive and well.
Let's all give a great big "THANK YOU" to John Forister for all the time and effort he has given to the chapter during his two years as president. John did an excellent job. Now maybe he can get some of his machinery around his house running. As many of you know last year he had one of those six month long annuals on his Comanche and has had a rebuilt engine ready for his Stinson for quite some time and has not made the time to get it installed.
Bhrent did a great job as Vice President. He was always ready and able to fill in for John as needed and helped in all the chapter functions. As many of you know Bhrent is building an RV6 and maybe he can get it in the air while he is president. Bhrent also conducted an impressive meeting this year about material flammability. "THANK YOU" for all your time and efforts as Vice President. We will all be glad to help you during your new job as President of the chapter.
We will all miss Vicki. It looks like she will not be able to make any
meetings with her new job situation. Hopefully she can attend some of the
pancake breakfasts and Saturday "hang around the airport" days. Vicki
took care of the secretary duties quite well and we certainly appreciate her
efforts. As many of you know, Vicki got her pilot's license about a year and a
half ago and then bought herself a Cessna 150. She learned a lot about flying in
the 150 and then decided she needed something bigger and faster.(that IS the
natural evolution for pilots isn't it). She is now working on her instrument
rating in her Cherokee 180 and quite pleased with her new airplane.

I have not had a confirmation but, the grapevine has it that Bart Dalton will present a program about licensing your homebuilt airplane this month. Bart is a DAR and has gained a lot of insight about the procedures of getting homebuilts licensed in the last few years. He has inspected quite a few homebuilts around town and is always willing to give expert advise about getting things done in a proper and timely manner. This should be a great and informative program from "one of our own".
A new year has begun and what wonderful flying weather? (Not) I sure hope that everyone had a great holiday season. I sure had a great time at our Christmas Party at Gundy's and also at the Vintage 10 Christmas Party at Julia and Carl Clay's house. I had never been before and am glad that I did. I met many people that like to fly and build planes that I hadn't known in the past.
I want to invite everyone out to our first meeting of the year. Since we have had so many people flying there newly built aircraft and also those people who are building and are close to flying I will bring a program on Certification procedurals and new things to know about this process. There are many new places to attain FAA paperwork and info. I have put together a handout to hopefully simplify the process and allow for a smooth inspection and paperwork process.
Anyone that has an idea for a program please let me know and we will try to get it worked in. I am really excited about having a great year in our EAA Chapter 10. Come on out and we'll have a pot of coffee waiting.
See you at the January Meeting,
Bart Dalton

Our erstwhile treasurer, Craig Loomiller, has reminded me that it is time to pay your dues for 2001. The dues will be $20 again this year. I have been a member since 1977 and the dues have always been $20. How many things have stayed the same price for 23 years?. Yeah, yeah, I know, "some things like TV's and microwaves have gone down"!
I will include a membership application in this newsletter. Fill it out and
mail it to our treasurer, Craig Loomiller. The address will be at the bottom of
the application. Note: This year we will be asking for your email address also.
It turns out that email is a great way to communicate with a group of people. We
also prefer that as many people as possible go to the web page to read our
monthly newsletter. More on that later.
As always we had a full house for our Christmas Party this year. The weather was not too cold and when everyone got in the hangar all the body heat warmed it up nicely and even my feet were toasty this year. There was a nice assortment of "white elephant" gifts but, the "naughty" gifts that always made the rounds in the past failed to appear again this year. I guess they offended some folks but, they always got a great big laugh and most folks seemed to appreciate them. Hmm - maybe I can dream up something for next year.
Bart Dalton and some others made the rounds of aviation businesses in Tulsa
and got an unbelievable number of door prizes to give out to our members.
Everyone got a prize and some even got more than one. A great big THANK YOU to
Bart for rounding up the door prizes.

After the "lay off" for the Christmas season I know that we are all very eager to get to the hangar on the Saturday after out meeting for some more of those really great pancakes. I know that the chef is ready to do some flapping. It has been three months since he has been able to exercise his culinary skills. Again it is on the first Saturday after the third Monday. "It don't get any easier even after years of trying to figger out when the hell the pancake breakfast is goin to be."
Go ahead and make plans to also attend the "ANNUAL MIDWINTER PANCAKE
BREAKFAST" on February 24, also. Plan to bring some friends and invite
everyone you see.
This midwinter event has been going on for quite a few years and was originally dreamed up by a long time EAA supporter, Bob Moore. Bob is no longer with us but, we certainly appreciate his efforts in getting this event started. The idea is to drag all the aviators out because everyone has been holed up all winter and needs to get out and spread a few lies around. I will include a flyer about the Midwinter pancake breakfast in this newsletter. Hopefully some of you will post the flyer at appropriate places around the aviation community. Note: We have moved it from January this year so we can have more time to get the word out. Let's have a great turnout this year
by Ken Cook
To the chapter and all the members present at the October meeting. I want to express my sincere thanks for the lovely little figurine commemorating the completion of my RV-4 and for everyone's very kind words. It sure was an evening I will not forget.
For those expressing an interest in help with their fiberglass fairings, I will be glad to share my very limited experience. Just give me a call (918 457-4659) and I will be glad to come into town some evening and work with you.
Many thanks again Chapter 10
Ken cook.
Editor's note: Ken was kind enough to let us use his beautiful RV-4 for out October meeting. We certainly thank him for letting us look it over. He really did a fantastic job on it. It is an airplane to be proud of.
In the October Newsletter I received from the Grove, Ok. chapter it sounded like they were about to fold up the chapter because no one wanted to relieve the chapter officers and serve for 2001. We always hate to hear of a chapter not continuing for any reason. It is kind of like an airport shutting down. GOOD NEWS - I have gotten another newsletter and some of the members have stepped forward and agreed to serve as officers for 2001.
Our neighbors to the East will continue to have an active chapter. They meet at the Grove airport on the last Sunday at 1:30pm. Drop in and visit them.
Below is a list of who brings snacks for each meeting. The pressure is really on the A-C's for January because the Jamil's brought really good stuff for the December.

Lonnie Halcumb has moved to Kansas City to take a new job and Mark Laboyteaux has taken over the task of administering out web site. Mark has jumped into this task with enthusiasm and has made some changes to our website and our website URL. Please check out our new website at the below addresses.
Our web page address is:

I will email a notice to each member who chooses to use the WEB version of the newsletter a note stating that the newsletter is ready and on line. Of course those who do not opt for the WEB version will continue to get a hard copy.
The chapter encourages everyone opt for the WEB version rather than the hard copy.
Please send me an email to scoltharp@aol.com stating that you want to use the WEB version of the newsletter if you opt for it.
One advantage of the web page based newsletter is that we can finally have
good quality color pictures of airplanes and activities.
I would like to have your articles or information by Thursday after the first Monday. We always fold the newsletters on the second Monday. That means that I have to get all the editing done and get it to the printers. Sometimes I procrastinate and don't get it printed until Sunday or Monday but my goal is to get it printed by Friday after the first Monday.
Sometimes our members access to some of the chapter benefits or help with some activity and they do not know who to contact. Below is a list of some of the responsible people,
PROGRAMS - Bart Dalton
NEWSLETTER - Lynn Coltharp
MEETING AREA PREP - Larry Brooks
LIBRARIAN - Leslie Smith
ACTIVITIES - Craig Loomiller & Larry Brooks
TOOL MASTER - Lynn Coltharp
