Our next meeting will be Monday, September 17th,
7:30 pm at the chapter hanger at Gundy's.
Snacks: Last names starting with Q-S
The hottest part of the summer is over, and it’s actually comfortable to be flying low and slow again. The pace of flying activities will be picking in September so check your calendars.
At the August meeting, we looked at some of the unique features of Rotax 912 engines. Based on comments from members who have been flying them or are thinking about them, I think is was worthwhile to have the program. Thanks to Terry Hines for manning the laptop computer during the meeting with no warning or practice.
To further expand our engine “IQ”, this month’s program will be by Ken Fisher. He has been assembling aircraft engines in Tulsa for many years and will share his engine expertise with us on Monday night.
The EAA Ford Tri-motor tour is scheduled to be at Riverside from Thursday, September 13, through Sunday, September 16. Jim Gallaway has been recruiting volunteers to provide fireguards and crowd/ passenger control during the Tri-motor tour. He still needs some help on Thursday, and if someone can’t make it, one of the other days. Give him a call at 272-9406 if you can give us a hand. EAA Chapter 10 supports National with our volunteers, and they make a generous contribution to Chapter 10 when the tour is over.
The following weekend, Friday, September 21, and Saturday, September 22, is the Tulsa Fly-in at Bartlesville. This is a major fly-in for this area, and we expect hundreds of airplanes and visitors. This year will feature Sport Planes and the Sport Pilot certificate. Several Sport Plane manufactures have been invited to display their aircraft and conduct forums. Chapter 10 and the other Tulsa area EAA chapters will be providing the manpower for the Fly-in. Chapter 10 will need volunteers for aircraft parking, registration, EAA information booth, and flight line safety. If you can help support this event, let me know at the meeting or call me at 371-5022. We get to enjoy fly-ins all over the U.S., and this is our opportunity to provide a fly-in in our area.
Hope to see you at the meeting,
Bhrent
How’s everyone doing? For myself, I have been recovering from probably the sickest week I have ever spent in my life. Last week I came down with pneumonia. I thought that I have been sick before, but until you have pneumonia, you don’t know what sick is. The good news is that I’m starting to feel better now.
Did everyone see this month’s issue of Sport Aviation that featured our own Mark Burns in one of the articles. It was a really good article about single seat aircraft, and Mark was one of the featured pilots talking about his Mini-max. Check it out.
I went down to DFW a couple of weeks ago to accept an award from the FAA. I received my Diamond award from them at this ceremony. To receive a Diamond award, you must attend one hundred hours of aviation training as well as eight hours of college courses. There were only four mechanics at American Airlines to receive one of these awards this year. I was very honored to receive it.
Finally, and I know I am sounding like a broken record, but… Please send me an article about what’s going on out there.
Craig
Ken Fisher will give this month’s program. Ken has a long history and much experience in aircraft maintenance, aircraft fuel systems, and aircraft engine building. He is a pilot and flies a Cessna 180 which he co-owns with his dad, John Fisher. Ken recently assisted Jim Gallaway and Jerry Thomas in building engines for their RV-8A projects. Join us Monday, Sept 17 at 7:30 for a very informative meeting.
John Nys,
V.P. Chapter 11
September 21-22, 2007Friday will kick off the Fly-In with aircraft arrivals all day. Friday activities will conclude with a casual, relaxing dinner on the field.
Saturday will continue with lots of aircraft arrivals and will feature educational and type club forums. The event will conclucde Saturday evening with a reception and awards dinner at bartlesville's Hillcrest Country Club. Balloted Grand Championship Trophies and Awards will be presented.
Come join us for the best in sport aviation... Remember, THESE ARE THE GOOD OLD DAYS!

If you would like to receive the newsletter electronically off of the chapter web site (www.eaa10.org) every month, just send Secretary Bob Thrasher or our web editor Bob Minich an e-mail. This action saves the chapter money on printing and mailing costs, which in turn, helps keep your dues low. It’s really simple to do. We send you a monthly e-mail notice when the latest newsletter is posted online. Just click on the provided link and you are there!
If you haven’t taken a look at our web page lately, you should check it out! Bob has started putting a picture of the author along side the articles, which really adds a lot to the newsletter. Many organizations have gone to an all-online newsletter which really reduces costs. Hopefully, we can get our own chapter moving in that same direction. We are supposed to be a progressive-thinking organization, after all.
