"Hey, the front skirt on your canopy is aluminum! Nice
job. How many tries did it take to get it right?"...

|
Gary:
|
"You know, I managed to get knock it out on the first
try."

"You really did a nice job on the rear one, too."
|
|
Gary:
"Thanks. It took a little more work. I really wanted
to make it out of a single piece and avoid the gap you see on
most RV-4's. It involves quite a few more curves than the front.
A lot of work to get it to lay right against the fuselage all
the way around."

"How did you manage to get your aileron gap seal on without
pop-rivets and not crease the skin?"
|
|
Gary: "You know, I don't remember! (chuckle)
Seems like I riveted the seal to the main skin before
I riveted the main skin on the wing. Then I used a long
thin set in my rivet gun and back shot 'em. Did I mention
I've built the whole plane with a 4X rivet gun?"
